With a fury much like early Who, this Michigan outfit is like stepping into a time machine in which Syd Barrett wrangles up his Floyd cronies and the Stones only have three albums under their belts. Crafting a brand of “Nuggets” style ’60s psych that cracks, pops, and fizzes; The People’s Temple capture the aura that was early Rolling Stones: scuzzy, fuzzy, sputtering guitar wailing. Staying true to their Michigan roots, their rock and roll pays homage to the MC5, while meddling the drone of Spaceman 3 and the pop of Brian Jonestown Massacre.
